It is with gratefulness and thanksgiving that I report to you the financial standing of First UMC-El Campo at the end of the 2016 fiscal year. Throughout the year, we have kept you apprised of the ministries in which we have been involved. Included in these ministries are: children and youth Sunday and weekly classes and activities; adult advent and Lenten study groups; weekly Lenten worship and lunches; adult summer small group classes and Wednesday morning worship; increased exposure to diverse music ministries through the gifted and talented; local (child care Christmas gifts, Manna Meals, Christmas in July, Harvest Blessings) and international missions (Africa and the Philippines); and a higher visibility within the community with the Ministerial Alliance (bell ringers for the Salvation Army and jackets for the public schools in El Campo & Louise). Our two focal points have been children & youth and guests. With the work of the committees who attend to these matters, we have accomplished church-wide goals and will pick-up where we have left off. Add to that a multitude of projects accomplished (and on-going) to our facility, truly second to none. Dearly beloved, these things do not happen without the generosity of you who support the work of our Lord, and I am humbled to know that we end the year with all bills paid, inspiring work dedicated to the glory God, and funds to start the new year. (I sense that it will be a great one for FUMC!) May we all be uplifted by the power of God who works (I’ve seen it; haven’t you?) in our midst and on our behalf. Truly amazing work has been done because you have responded with a portion of the gifts God has bestowed upon you.
As your pastor, I thank you and am pleased to “shout this news from the mountaintops!”
